Funding for newcomers
Your immigration status shapes which student aid applies — but several routes exist specifically for internationally trained professionals.
Key routes
- Ontario Bridging Participant Assistance Program — one-time bursary up to $5,000 for eligible bridge-training participants.
- Internationally educated nurse supports — temporary fee reimbursement for registration/licensing costs, plus nursing bridging grants (BEGIN pathways up to $15,000–$30,000 with service commitments).
- OSAP — available to citizens, permanent residents and protected persons who are Ontario residents; study permits generally don't qualify.
- Canada Training Credit & Lifelong Learning Plan — adult-learner routes once you're working or have RRSP savings.
Status matters — but we don't judge it
We ask about status only to route you correctly, never to assess immigration eligibility. For immigration advice, use IRCC or an authorized representative — this site does not provide immigration advice.
