Business financing

For students or learners who are also starting or growing a business. Business financing is not student aid and cannot pay ordinary tuition. If you need money for school, start with grants and public student aid.

Before you talk to any lender

• Know your purpose: starting, buying or growing a business, or buying business equipment.
• Ask for the total cost of borrowing — rate, fees, term and penalties — in writing.
• Government-backed small-business programs have their own official rules — verify on the official Canada Small Business Financing Program page, not marketing pages.
• Nothing is "guaranteed" or "approved for everyone". Walk away from anyone who says otherwise.
